Successful Launch of XPoSat Satellite

  • By the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
  • 2nd country in the world to send an observatory to study celestial sources such as black holes and neutron stars.
  • XPoSat stands for PSLV-C58 X-ray Polarimeter satellite.
  • Launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
  • It was placed in orbit of 650 km with 6-degree inclination.
  • Its payload includes PoLIX (Polari meter Instrument in X-rays) and XSPECT (X-ray Spectroscopy and Timing)
  • POLIX is developed by the Raman Research Institute.
  • XSPECT by Space Astronomy Group of URSC, Bengaluru.
