Solar Plants to Be Built By SJVN Green Energy in Maharashtra

  • SJVN Limited, a Mini Ratna, Category-I, and Schedule ‘A’ Central public sector enterprise, has received Letters of Award for the development of solar projects in Maharashtra. 
  • The projects will be developed through SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a subsidiary of SJVN, in Nashik, Solapur, Ahmednagar, and Pune. 
  • The projects will be developed under the Mukhya Mantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0, a government initiative aiming for 30% feeder solarisation by 2025. 
  • The total investment for the development of these projects will be about Rs. 7,436 crores, the first contribution of SGEL towards the PM-KUSUM Scheme. 
  • The projects were secured through a competitive bidding process in a tender floated by MSEB Solar Agro Power Limited, Maharashtra. 
  • SJVN aims to achieve a shared vision of 25,000 MW installed capacity by 2030 and 50,000 MW installed capacity by 2040, aligning with the Government of India’s commitment to 50% of total power capacity from non-fossil-fuel-based energy sources by 2030.
