Relics of Buddha and His Disciples Will Travel To Thailand

  • The relics of Lord Buddha and his disciples, Arahata Sariputra, and Arahata Maudgalayana, will be taken from India to Thailand for a 26-day exposition on 22nd February 2024. 
  • The delegation includes monks from Kushinagar, Aurangabad, and Ladakh, officials from the Ministry of Culture, state government of M.P., curators from the National Museum, artists, and scholars. 
  • The event is being organized with the support of the Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian Embassy in Thailand, the International Buddhist Confederation, the National Museum, and the State Government of Madhya Pradesh. 
  • The Piparahwa Relic, a revered artifact, will be the centerpiece of the collection. 
  • The relics will be carried in IAF aircraft as State Guest and will be enshrined in a grand Mandapam in Sanam Luang Pavilion in Bangkok on 23rd February. 
  • The exhibition itinerary includes visits to multiple venues across Thailand, with the relics being escorted back to their respective homes on 19th March 2024.
