NTPC and APIIC Sign Agreement for Hydrogen Hub in Visakhapatnam

  • NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) have signed a land lease agreement for the development of an “Integrated Green Hydrogen Hub” in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. 
  • The hub will be located on 1,200 acres near Pudimadaka village of Atchutapuram Mandal. 
  • The project aims to create a world-class ecosystem for technologies in the new energy paradigm, including electrolyzer and fuel cell manufacturing, related industries, start-ups, incubation, testing facilities, production, and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives. 
  • The project includes the construction of India’s largest green hydrogen production facility (1,200 tons per day), enabling further conversion of green hydrogen to derivatives. 
  • The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy is implementing the National Green Hydrogen Mission, with an outlay of ₹ 19,744 crores. 
  • NTPC is India’s largest Power Utility, with a total installed capacity of 74 GW.
