New Testing Hub SPACE Set Up For the NAVY by DRDO

  • Inaugurated by Secretary, Department of Defence and Chairman DRDO Dr Samir V Kamat at Underwater Acoustic Research Facility, Kulamavu, and Kerala. 
  • Set up by the Naval Physical & Oceanographic Laboratory of DRDO. 
  • Designed as a hub for sonar systems for the Indian Navy on ships, submarines, and helicopters. 
  • Comprises a floating platform and a submersible platform for depths up to 100m. 
  • Mainly used for evaluation of complete sonar systems, quick deployment, and easy recovery of scientific packages. 
  • Suitable for survey, sampling, and data collection of air, surface, mid-water, and reservoir floor parameters.
