Major Initiatives to Boost Agriculture Sector Inaugurated

  • Central Fertilizer Quality Control and Training Institutes’ portal for fertilizer sample testing. Shri Arjun Munda highlighted the importance of soil health and the role of Krishi Sakhi in educating farmers about soil health. 
  • The school soil health program aims to guide students in understanding the importance of soil and the environment. 
  • Krishi Sakhi Training Program has been launched to certify Krishi Sakhis as “Para-Extension Workers”. Shri Giriraj Singh emphasized the role of soil organic carbon in making the soil healthy and urged the use of organic and natural farming practices. He also urged institutions related to agriculture to keep real-time carbon data. Revamped Soil Health Card Portal and Mobile Application 
  • The soil health card portal was revamped with a mobile application for soil sample collection and testing. 
  • The portal features a soil lab registry, real-time lab status tracking, and geo-coordinated labs. 
  • Real-time data of soil sample collection, lab tests, and Soil Health Card generation is displayed. 
  • Centralized dashboard at National, State, and District Levels provided. 
  • GIS analytics are available on a real-time basis. 
  • Farmers can download a Soil Health Card (SHC) through SMS Notification and mobile number. 
  • The app includes fertilizer management, an Emoji-based Soil Health Card, a nutrient dashboard, and heat maps of nutrients. 
  • Progress monitoring and geo-coordinates of farmers are automatically captured. School Soil Health Programme 
  • Pilot project undertaken by the Department in collaboration with the Department of School Education and Literacy. 
  • 20 soil labs were set up in 20 schools of Kendriya and Navodaya Vidyalaya in rural areas. 
  • Mobile application customized for the school program. 
  • Scaled up in 1000 schools, including Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya, and Eklavya Model Schools. 
  • Students collect soil samples, test in labs, and generate Soil Health Card. 
  • The program aims to develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and an understanding of ecosystems. Krishi Sakhi Convergence Programme 
  • MoU signed between Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer Welfare and Ministry of Rural Development to converge their programs. 
  • Joint initiative i.e., Krishi Sakhis Training Programme to certify farmers.
