“Jammu And Kashmir’s Aroma Mission” To Be a Role Model for India

  • Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh, announced that the Aroma Mission in Jammu and Kashmir will be a part of “Viksit Bharat.”
  • The Aroma Mission has become a role model for India, with the youth of J&K associated with the Aroma Start-ups ecosystem emerging as brand ambassadors of the Purple Revolution.
  • Singh called for investment in unexplored or under-explored areas, stating that these areas hold the key to propelling India’s economy. 
  • He emphasized the importance of generating awareness about the cultivation of Himalayan resources like lavender and called upon DDC members to participate in this endeavor.
  • Singh also called for research on new crops for cultivation based on the topography of different regions of Jammu and Kashmir. 
  • He noted that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the number of start-ups in the country has crossed the one-and-a-half lakh mark in the last ten years. 
  • He also highlighted India’s bio-economy’s value at over 140 billion from 10 billion a decade ago. 
  • In the space sector, Singh reported that investment worth over one thousand Crore rupees has come in the area in just eight months last year.
