India Launches Women-Led Initiative at Global Meet

  • At Davos, Switzerland.
  • From 15-19 January 2024.
  • Theme for the year, ‘Rebuilding Trust’.
  • Indian delegation led by Smriti Zubin Irani, Union Minister of Women & Child Development and Minority Affairs along with Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of Petroleum &  Natural Gas, Housing & Urban Affairs, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics & IT, Secretary, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry and other senior officers.
  • India launched the “Global Good Alliance for Gender Equity and Equality” endorsed.

About the Alliance:

  • Supported by industry leaders, including MasterCard, Uber, Tata, TVS, Bayer, Godrej, Serum Institute of India, IMD Lausanne, and over 10,000 partners.
  • Supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
  • Will be housed and anchored by the CII Centre for Women Leadership.
  • WEF will be a ‘Network Partner’.
  • Invest India will act as an ‘Institutional Partner’.

We Lead Lounge

  • By CII and BMGF.
  • And led by the Union Minister of Women & Child Development.
  • This was the first-ever women’s leadership lounge.
  • It hosted panel discussions and meetings on the themes of “Women-led Development” increasing women’s participation in the economy, bridging the digital gender gap, and engendering women’s health.
  • It showcased handicrafts by women entrepreneurs and products from the Tea and Coffee Board of India.
