India-France Joint Military Exercise SHAKTI Commences In Meghalaya

  • The 7th edition of the India-France Joint Military Exercise SHAKTI began in Umroi, Meghalaya, from 13th to 26th May 2024. 
  • The event is a biennial training event conducted alternately in India and France. 
  • The Indian contingent, comprising 90 personnel, is primarily represented by a Battalion of the RAJPUT Regiment, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force. 
  • The French contingent, comprising 90 personnel, is mainly represented by the 13th Foreign Legion Half- Brigade (13th DBLE). 
  • The exercise aims to enhance joint military capability for multi-domain operations in a Sub Conventional scenario under Chapter VII of the United Nations Mandate. 
  • The exercise will focus on operations in semi-urban and mountainous terrain. 
  • The exercise will facilitate the sharing of best practices in tactics, techniques, and procedures of conducting joint operations.
