India, Bhutan Energy Cooperation Agreement Gets Approval

  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, approved the signing of a MoU between India and Bhutan on cooperation in energy efficiency and conservation measures. 
  • The MoU was signed between the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, and the Department of Energy, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Royal Government of Bhutan. 
  • India aims to assist Bhutan in enhancing energy efficiency through the promotion of the star labeling program developed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency. 
  • The MoU will facilitate the formulation of building codes and the training of energy auditors in Bhutan. 
  • The MoU will also aid Bhutan in ensuring the availability of energy-efficient products in the market and will analyze energy efficiency policies and promote research and technology deployment.
