India and Rwanda Hold Joint Defence Cooperation Committee Meeting

  • India and Rwanda held their first Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting in Kigali, Rwanda on February 8, 2024. 
  • The meeting discussed opportunities to enhance defense cooperation between the two countries. 
  • Discussions included training cooperation, joint military exercises, and defense-industrial cooperation. 
  • The Indian delegation highlighted the growing capabilities of Indian defense manufacturers to export to friendly countries. 
  • Rwanda expressed interest in augmenting training cooperation and collaborating with the Indian Armed Forces under the Defence MoU signed in 2018. 
  • The Indian delegation called on Rwandan Defence Minister, Mr Marizamunda Juvenal, and conveyed warm greetings. 
  • The visit is expected to further strengthen defense relations with Rwanda.
