Hurl Sindri Fertiliser Plant Commences Operation

  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicates the Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd (HURL) Sindri Fertiliser Plant at Sindri, Dhanbad, and Jharkhand. 
  • The plant, established in 2018, will produce 60 lakh metric tonnes of urea, aiming to meet India’s annual requirement of 360 lakh metric tonnes of urea. 
  • The plant, developed at a cost of over Rs 8900 crores, will provide employment opportunities for local youth and contribute to India’s journey towards Aatmnirbhar Bharat.
  • The plant, a joint venture of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), started urea production on 05 November 2022. 
  • The plant aims to ensure adequate urea supply to farmers in Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar. 
  • The plant will boost economic development in the region, including infrastructure development and employment opportunities. 
  • The initiative will also benefit MSME vendors for the supply of various goods for the factory.
