HURL Fertilizer Plant Inaugurated At Barauni

  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd (HURL) fertilizer plant in Barauni, India. 
  • The plant, with an estimated investment of Rs. 9512 crores, will have a urea production capacity of 12.7 LMTPA. 
  • The plant is part of the government’s initiative to revive closed urea units of Fertilizer Corporation of India Ltd. (FCIL) and Hindustan Fertilizers Corporation Ltd (HFCL). 
  • The plant will provide affordable urea to farmers, increasing their productivity and financial stability. 
  • HURL, a Joint Venture Company, was mandated to revive Gorakhpur, Sindri, and Barauni units with an estimated investment of Rs. 25,000 crores. 
  • The project will improve the availability of fertilizer to farmers, boost the economy in the region, and ensure food security. 
  • HURL Plants have unique features like blast proof control room, emergency shutdown system, and environment monitoring systems. 
  • The project will also help develop small and medium scale industries and vendors, boosting employment generation.
