Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research and Analysis Extends MoU

  • MoU signed between NEC Shillong, IIM Shillong, and MDoNER for the continued operation of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research and Analysis. 
  • The MoU was signed on 13-02-2024 at the NEC Secretariat, Shillong, and MDoNER joining through a web link. 
  • The Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Centre was created by a tripartite agreement between IIM Shillong, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), and the North Eastern Council on 15th October 2016. 
  • The extension of the MoU will deepen the relationship between the three agencies and strengthen the commitment towards the development of the northeastern region. 
  • The Dr. Kalam Centre will work under key areas including Training and Development, Research and Consultancy, Policy Advocacy, Knowledge Dissemination, and Civic Engagement. 
  • The objectives of the Dr. Kalam Centre include: – Emerging as a ‘think tank’ for the North Eastern Region (NER) through application of best management practices. – Providing inputs on efficiency and sustainability of resource utilization. – Providing a framework for the implementation of policies and programs of MDoNER. – Promoting Human Resource Development in the region. – Networking with other institutions of excellence in various subject areas relevant to the development of the NER. – Undertaking research and analysis on the development agenda of the NER. – Supporting in stimulating economic development in NER through innovation and entrepreneurship. – Identifying interventions needed for steady export growth from NER. – Assisting in generating new ideas and knowledge for adoption in NER.
