DIP Launched To Prevent Financial Fraud Launched By Telecommunication Ministry

  • The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched two new initiatives to curb the misuse of telecom resources in cybercrime and financial fraud. 
  • The Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) is a secure platform for real-time intelligence sharing, information exchange, and coordination among stakeholders. 
  • The Chakshu facility on the Sanchar Saathi portal allows citizens to report suspected fraud communication received over call, SMS, or WhatsApp. 
  • The DIP is accessible to stakeholders over secure connectivity and the relevant information is shared based on their respective roles. 
  • The initiative has resulted in a total of 4 Crore visitors, 59 lakh fraudulent connections disconnected, and 1 Crore disconnections. 
  • The DoT has also blocked handsets for involvement in cybercrimes, blocked PoS blocklisted 71 thousand, registered 365+ FIRs, blocked based on user requests 14 lahks, traced and given information to State Governments 7 lakh, blocked accounts with WhatsApp – total accounts disengaged 3 lahks, frozen accounts by Banks/Payment wallets – accounts frozen 10 lakh, and saved 1 thousand Crore Indian citizens’ money. 
  • The launch of DIP and Chakshu underscores the DoT’s commitment to empowering citizens and fostering a secure digital ecosystem.
