Dinesh Tripathi Is New Vice-Admiral for Navy

  • Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, PVSM, AVSM, NM, was appointed as the next Chief of the Naval Staff from April 30, 2024. 
  • Tripathi, a Communication and Electronic Warfare specialist, has 39 years of service. 
  • Before his appointment, he was the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, of Western Naval Command. 
  • Tripathi has held various operational and staff appointments, including Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet, Director of Naval Operations, Principal Director, Network Network-centric Operations, and Principal Director of Naval Plans at New Delhi. 
  • As a Rear Admiral, he served as the Assistant Chief of Naval Staff and the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet. 
  • Tripathi has undergone courses at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Naval Higher Command Course, Karanja, and Naval Command College at the United States Naval War College, USA.
