DGFT and DHL Sign Agreement for Increasing Online Trade

  • DGFT, India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is promoting e-commerce exports through its ‘District as Export Hubs’ initiative. 
  • DGFT collaborates with e-commerce platforms and service providers to conduct capacity-building and training sessions in identified districts. 
  • The partnership with global logistics service provider, DHL, will cover 76 districts in three phases. 
  • The aim is to make Indian MSMEs export-ready through capacity-building sessions, training, and workshops. 
  • Commerce Secretary Shri Sunil Barthwal emphasized the importance of the e-commerce ecosystem and the Bharat Mart initiative. 
  • DHL Express Global CEO John Pearson emphasized the partnership’s alignment with DHL’s Go Trade program to empower MSMEs in the global market. 
  • The partnership aims to develop a start-up kit for first-time exporters/MSMEs. 
  • DGFT has also signed MoUs with Amazon India and Ship Rocket, covering 20 and 16 districts respectively.
