Credit Assistance Program for Jan Aushadhi Kendras Launched

  • Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers and Health & Family Welfare, inaugurated a credit assistance program for Jan Aushadhi Kendras. 
  • The program, initiated by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), aims to provide affordable and accessible medicines to 10 to 12 lakh people visiting these Kendras daily. 
  • The program will offer project loans for a credit limit up to Rs. 2 lakhs at a competitive and affordable interest rate. 
  • The initiative is part of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana, which provides affordable and quality medicines to all Indian citizens. 
  • The program will also support the establishment of retail medical outlets in the country. 
  • The initiative will facilitate invoice-based financing to entrepreneurs running Jan Aushadhi Kendras and support for the infrastructural establishment of retail medical outlets. 
  • The project loan will fund up to Rs. 4 lakhs again on a lucrative interest rate and easy repayment conditions. 
  • SIDBI plans to use the GST-Sahay technology platform while disbursing funds to these micro and small enterprises through the two MoUs.
