Coastal Aquaculture Authority Launches National Campaign For Farm Registration

  • The Coastal Aquaculture Authority (CAA) Chennai, under the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, GoI, launched a national campaign to achieve 100% farm registration in the country. 
  • The campaign was first organized in Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu, today. 
  • The initiative is supported by Amendments in the Principal Act on Coastal Aquaculture, which allow for registration of farms in the Owned land and condone delayed renewals. 
  • The government has included provisions for allowing farmers to delay registration by paying two times the registration fee. 
  • The campaign is expected to help over 35,000 farms across the country to regularize their registrations. 
  • The CAA plans to organize the campaign in all states in association with State fisheries departments and MPEDA. 
  • The campaign aims to serve as a “Help-line” to farmers and result in 100% registration and renewal of Coastal aquaculture units.
