Anusandhan Research Foundation (ANRF) Act Comes Into Force

  • The Anusandhan Research Foundation (ANRF) Act came into force on February 5, 2024, aiming to boost Research and Innovation in India. 
  • The Act establishes the ANRF to promote R&D and foster a culture of research and innovation in India’s universities, colleges, research institutions, and laboratories. 
  • Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), has been appointed as the interim CEO of ANRF. 
  • ANRF provides strategic direction for research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in various fields including natural sciences, engineering, technology, environmental and earth sciences, health, and agriculture. 
  • The Act aims to boost R&D funding, encourage private sector involvement, and promote interdisciplinary research.
